About Stephen

I started trading options in 2010. A friend mentioned a paid options course she was doing, so I signed up. Until that conversation, I didn't really know options existed. Shares hadn't worked for me. I'd tried holding them long-term and I'd tried trading them, and neither had given me what I was looking for: something that could provide extra income.

The course was good. It was also expensive, and it didn't quite answer the question I kept coming back to: how do you actually generate income from this, consistently, without taking on the kind of risk that wipes out a year of gains in a bad week? That search took me through several approaches before I settled on the Wheel: Cash-Secured Puts and Covered Calls, run as a system rather than a series of bets. That's the approach I've used since, and the approach these books describe.

My day job is engineering. Fire protection systems, mostly 3D modelling of sprinkler designs. It's a discipline that rewards structure and process: get the rules right, follow them, don't improvise when you don't have to. That mindset shapes how I trade and how I write about trading. The Wheel works because it's a system. Both books are built the same way: clear rules, explained simply, with the reasoning behind each one.

I live in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales, where the beaches and the bush make it easy to step away from the screens. I also co-founded Poptions, a web platform that helps traders implement the Wheel Strategy. The books and Poptions are separate ventures, and you can use the books without any Poptions subscription.
